The Full Story

About Me

My name is Laura Bartley, I am a baby, infant, and child sleep consultant.

The Sleep Teacher

Why Am I Doing This?

Because I’ve been there...

I had my first child at the start of lockdown in 2020, my husband and I were frankly broken- we were getting zero sleep, taking it in shifts to walk laps of the kitchen table hoping it would lull the little one to sleep (it didn’t) all night and at the end of our tether.

Our baby wasn’t happy, we weren’t happy and we were questioning “Is this it? Is this our life now- constantly exhausted and a continually crying baby?”.

We were fortunate in that we found an amazing sleep consultant. Within a week we had a different child and a different life; he slept for 12 hours a night and napped consistently during the day, my husband and I had our life back and could start to enjoy parenting.

Without sounding too “culty” that’s what I want for you- getting your family in a position where everyone is well-rested and able to enjoy these precious early years with less tears, tantrums, and less stress.

Having been a teacher in early years and primary education for over 13 years and having a BA in Early Childhood Development, I’ve found that the additional knowledge I’ve gained through my sleep consultancy has complimented my existing skills and put me in a position where I’m fully confident that if you work with me, I can help you!

What Is Sleep Teaching?

We are not born with the natural ability to sleep well, and sometimes as children get older for a variety of reasons they can fall into poor sleeping habits. Like any skill, the quality of sleep children get can be improved through training and practice. Sleep Teaching is about providing you as a parent/ caregiver, the help, techniques, and tactics you need to support your child at their specific stage of development to get the best sleep possible.

My approach is backed by both scientific research and extensive experience; you will find some of what you learn from me may run counter to lots of perceived wisdom but let’s face it- you wouldn’t be reading this if the “old wives’ tales”  were actually working!

How Do We Achieve This?

Step 1

Once you place an order through the website I will contact you to schedule our initial consultation video call.

Step 2

We will have a video call for up to an hour to get a really detailed understanding of both where your child is currently with sleep and also your family patterns and routines; I want to make sure that everything we put together works for both your child's sleep & also your wider family life.

Step 3

Using the information you’ve provided, I will put together a fully bespoke plan for your child. This includes nap times and durations, bedtimes and wake-up times, techniques for settling, and walkthrough guides on how to implement all of this.

Step 4

We will have a call to talk you through the plan, answer any questions you may have, and make sure that you are happy and comfortable implementing the plan.

Step 5

I will be proactively checking in with you throughout the plan period to make sure that all is going well and will be available if you are having any issues or challenges; think of me like a personal trainer- my job is to support you and make sure that you are on track to succeed! Whether you prefer emails, text/ WhatsApp, or calls I’ll be available to help you whenever you need it.

Step 6

At the end of the plan period we will have a 30-minute call to discuss how the plan has worked for you and how progress has been made, as well as answer any questions or queries you may have moving forward.
